Dirty mean downtime

Daines'n around feel under the exploits of mean folks. THey took advantage of an updated blog from 3.36 to 4.0 and before I knew it my hosting service contacted me with information suspending my site until the malicious scripts were removed. Sadly I could not get any entries since I first began the upgrade procedure. The new MT 4.1 release is supposed to fix these problems. I also just imported my entries and rebuilt the entire blog with a fresh install in the hopes that now exploits will be found this time around. If it happens again, I'll be using a new content management system.

That's clean!

Reinvention happens all of the time. The music industry is struggling with distribution methods that satisfy most of the population despite brave new attempts by Radiohead, Prince and Trent Reznor-produced Saul Williams. Television and film writers are on strike until the studios can figure out remuneration for the many digital distribution methods being taken advantage of.

Now it is my time for reinvention. In my case, it will only be redesign for now.

With the construction of my new computer it seemed like an appropriate time to dig in and sit at my desk and come up with something new. I've attempted to streamline everything a bit more. Despite suggestions that I get with the times and do 100 percent CSS for my site, I'm settling for a completed project now. So the change happens quickly in the middle of the night.

After 4 years of the dark gray :

It is now "clean" according to Kelly's boss.

His exclamation of the design being clean may just be a way of saying it is too simple. But it is me. It is the look I was going for. It may not be the latest of programming possible, but it performs well. Still, I am reading about CSS and taking my time. I'm not happy with the tedious methods of updating CSS in MT4 (necessary to personalize the look of my blog) and unless I downgrade to MT3.35 I won't be able to do much with my blog design until I learn a lot more about CSS.

The new design will bring a slight confidence when I apply for jobs that I will have something easily manageable and representative of my many abilities. As I'm feeling very stymied in my current position this brings a breathable air into my life even if nothing immediately comes of it.

Any critiquing is welcome.

Downgrade and super upgrade

Tired of trying to get MT4 to behave the way I wanted to, but not wanting to part ways with my beloved Movable Type, I've gone back to the 3.35 that is so stable and beautifully familiar. Since I'm not doing anything serious -- not even blogging lately -- there's no reason that I need to go beyond MT3.35. The RSS feeds should be the same, but the archives were deleted completely and rebuilt.

The super upgrade? I hadoukened a nice CSS slice into my table Web site layout, so it now works seamlessly with the site design. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to do it, but a nice round of insomnia and the new Jamie Lidell album seemed to gel very well.

I also fixed the problem with staticantics.com so I'll be able to resume my photoblogging.
