December 2007 Archives

December 5, 2007

Winter -- somewhat tardy -- has arrived

It is funny how the last warm day was almost a week ago. There was a spectacular sunrise that I was able to snap a photo of on my way to the lake. Why the lake? Just wanted to be somewhere other than the four walls of my apartment or my windowless office. It looked nice.

The very next morning things were different. December arrived. So did a storm. On my way to work I was greeted by snow. A bigger snow storm than almost all of the snow from last year's winter. It was a very sticky, wet snow. The kind that don't beckon snowmen, angels or snowball fights.

The worst part of all is scraping the windows. It is like nails on a chalkboard to me. It has to be done but my hair stand on end with each scrape across the glass. My breath looks like a locomotive and i furiously scrape away with my 5-dollar Chinese plastic scraper special. Really? I could have gotten it cheaper at Wal-Mart?

No thanks.

Bah

"You don't like Christmas music Chris?"

"No. Not really."

"How sad!"

"I know. Just call me Scrooge McDuck."

::long pause::

Another person:

"Did you just say Scrooge McDuck?"

"Yes."

A round of lols was had by all.

    • Robert Johnson (1938)
    • Brian Jones (1969)

  • Law and Order is centered around the 27th precinct
  • Brigham Young had 27 wives
  • According to Alfred Weysen, twenty seven is a lunar symbol, indicating the light in darkness. It is the symbol of the divine light.
  • 27 percent of the Earth's crust is silicon.
  • 27 is how old my father was when he got married.

This is the first and last time I'll turn 27. It'll make 2008 that much more interesting.
I'm goign to make of list of my 27 favorite things about 2008 as they happen.
