Rootless Sloth

I've had a very busy two weeks. Two house guests for a total of 9 days of tourism, 1100 miles of driving but only a few dozen photographs. I'm ready to get back to being active and cooking for myself rather than eating out.

Spring is here and the cottonwood trees are blooming something ferocious. It is difficult for me to stave off allergic reactions even in my own home now. I sneezed a record-breaking nine times in a row today. I had to stop driving and pull over and wait for my light-headed feeling to pass.

I weigh more than I have ever weighed before. My sedentary lifestyle is not helping.

So living a desk-job life has left me with little desire to remain near a computer after work is done. Even less of an idea of what to fill a this space with. I'm in the process of gathering together a bit of a post about things I do at work, which will be very boring but informative nonetheless.

I've got a few goals for the short term and long term.

I'm still swooning over Damien Rice's performance in Orem two weeks ago. Michelle was nice enough to spend some time with me and fly in from Los Angeles.

Holy Floating Jackman

The Fountain (with Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz) is an intriguing film. The imagery and story-telling collide in a world torn between cliches, religions and time periods. Time is nearly irrelevant in the film which allows the core plot to shine. The story of a man searching for a cure for death reveals his innermost fear is not losing the woman he works feverishly to save. He works to save his own fear of that unknown. That "Road to Awe."

It isn't the best movie of all time, but it's poignant prodding into the human perception of death and various religious thoughts on the matter or eternal life keep the watcher entertained. It is a beautiful film -- though it may hit a little too hard for those dealing with cancer or have had a loved one pass away recently.

It is a cool evening. Wish I could spend some time with friends and be outside.
