April and May have brought new understanding of stress and distance. I have not had much time to balance my checkbook, fold my laundry or update this blog of sorts. Could I have made time?
My last final is Wednesday. Not of the semester, but of the college education I have been pursuing for the last 4.5 years. While stress has been tantamount the past few months, I am fairly confidant that the next few weeks I will have the distinct opportunity to understand on a personal level exactly what change is.
The world changes constantly (but it stays the same, or so say the clichés). Last week my father approached me and informed me that after three years of unemployment he will no longer be able to afford rent with my help past the month of June.
“You should find a place to stay and a job as soon as you can.”
Just as quick and effortless as that sentence took to utter my summer plans of travel and roadtripping were quickly gone. Now I spend my free time going over my photography portfolio, my resume, and looking for jobs around the web and among friends and coworkers.
There are so many options opening up to me, and really nothing is around to make me favor one over the other. Affordable temporary living situations have been found in San Francisco. Free semi-permanent housing situations have been offered in Virginia and Washington D.C.
School ends this week and my graduation is scheduled for May 31, but I am not walking. I cannot really even answer why I am not walking. After hearing that no one in my family could make it, and not desiring to make anyone from extended family or dedicated friends spend more money to make it down to Northridge on a Wednesday at 8a.m. I opted to take my diploma and celebrate some other way. Hopefully a party will be had; I just have to find a place big enough to fit all the people.
No decisions have been made. Except one: I was a rather dashing missionary. Look at the photo I found last night.

I returned to updating my photojournal as well. I will be taking the link to Daines’n Around off of my main page, but continue to keep it at http://www.chrisdaines.net/blog.

good luck with everything. I'm sorry to hear about the trip cancellation. John and I just bought the house next door to us. So, We'll have a guest room in that house as well. If all else fails you'll have a place in Aberdeen, WA. I know I could get you a job at the local paper. ;)

You have a stewie look going here. For some reason you reminded me of him when I looked at this photo. Go figure.
